Cars whizzed down the track in excess of 250 miles per hour at the annual Scout Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The winning car, built by scout Keagan Shelite, scorched down the track with an average speed of 264.5 miles-per-hour and took first place in the Grand Finals.
The cars, built to 1/30 scale, were timed to scale, allowing Scouts to earn bragging rights on top speeds.
For the LeFevre family this year’s derby was a battle of the siblings. Don LeFevre’s three children, Meredith, Colin and Noah, all had cars in this year’s derby. Youngsters Meredith and Colin were entered into the Outlaw class, for non-Scouts, and Noah, a member of the Scouts raced with his pack.
For Meridith, this year was her first Derby car.
