The Hesston Swather boys tennis team had three entries in the Class 4A state tournament Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, at Wichita Collegiate.

The Swathers had to overcome some adversity, but placed fourth out of 20 teams represented at the tournament.

The host Spartans won the tournament with 42 points, despite not winning either the singles or doubles titles. They did have all four entries at State and they placed fourth and fifth in singles and fifth and eighth in doubles. That was good enough for the 42 points.

Topeka Hayden was second with 35 points, McPherson was third with 32, and the Swathers were fourth with 28.
